Essential Oils

All plants use sunlight for photosynthesis to produce energy and grow.  Some plants have a secondary metabolism, using the glucose from sunlight to manufacture essential oils.  These oils are produced as a defense system against infection, damage, predators and weather variations.  Extracted from the bark, roots, flowers and foliage of plants, these essential oils can be used by the human body for similar benefits.

Essential oils can be absorbed in three ways a) inhalation b) topical or c) ingested.  Only pure essential oils that have been extracted by steam distillation, cold pressed or CO2 are truly pure and therapeutic.  Extraction using a solvent will comprise the integrity and introduce toxic chemicals into the body.  It is important to research the brand of oil before using.  Only Young Living’s Vitality oils have met the FDA labeling requirements for internal consumption.
